After lots of research, Tomahawk Together chose Lee Recreation, a Wisconsin-based playground consulting firm that works with the Burke Playground Company (also a Wisconsin-based company), to design the playground portion of the park and manufacture the equipment. The companies have great reputations and Burke Playground Company offers an incredible warranty.
The playground is designed to be all-inclusive, offering access and enjoyment for ALL abilities. It comes with a hefty price tag, but nearly half of the cost is in the special “poured-in-place surfacing” below the play elements that creates a safer playground for all users, particularly in the event of a fall. The play surface and walkways throughout the park will be handicapped accessible.

Proposed playground plans
The City of Tomahawk has approved Commercial Recreation Specialists as the vendor and Vortex as the manufacture for the Splashpad. Renditions are in the preliminary stages now with specific equipment yet to be finalized. An Outdoor Recreation Plan conducted by the city included a survey of residents of Tomahawk and the surrounding areas. It showed overwhelming support for the addition of a splash pad. The city's Park and Recreation Committee identified Washington Square Park, located in the city center, as the perfect location.
